My 4th rock concert and my 2nd Bobaflex concert was at the SixPence.
For this one I got Josie to go with me. Gotta start off by saying this is definately one of my favorite concerts I've been to. Had so much fun. For the first time in a long time things actually felt right with Josie. Just like back in the old Josie and Sarah Days. =) And as a throwback to those days, Josie did the Josie Face for a picture while we ate chips and drank water in the corner. lol
But you see, this was taken after we got in. Getting in was interesting. Josie got in no problem...Because she was 26. I got in not so easily....Because I'm 18. Apparently it was a 21+ show. I told mom to ask about any age limits when she went to buy our tickets for us but she forgot. I then forgot to call them. But I completely bluffed my way in by telling the guy someone told my mom that it was 18+. Got him to take pity on me and he let me in with double Xs on my hands and a warning that if I'm caught drinking, I would go to jail along with the person who served me alcohol. Yay for being a girl who would be completely crushed if she couldn't see her favorite band and making a bouncer feel sorry for her!!! ^_^
After we ate some of our chips, well actually after Josie ate some of her chips because I didn't eat any, we decided to hide our chips in the corner under the stool((The fact that we did that just makes me giggle.)) and we moved over to stand by the railing next to the woman that took Chrissy and I's picture with Shaun at the Inferno. This was so we'd have a better chance of getting front row. Then we figured we'd get an even bigger advantage on them and we moved to go and sit down on the steps right next to the stage. It worked because we got some pretty awesome spots front and center. Ya, know, you can really underestimate the level of awkwardness when the band your watching is pretty much eye-level with you...
First band was Blue Sky Falling. Never heard of them before but they were pretty good. And the guitarist Garrett was pretty much singing and making funny faces directly at me since he was directly infront of me and there was that awkward eye-level thing. lol
After they finished playing it was time for Bobaflex. While BSF was taking their stuff down, I said hi to the woman((I'm going to refer to her as the Short Woman)) next to us and reminded her that we took each others pictures with Shaun. We then tried to figure out all the Bobaflex guy's names. She was sure on Tommy and Jerod. I was sure on Marty and Shaun. I can't remember how but we eventually figured out Chris. BSF guys were off the stage and Bobaflex was getting set up. Chris came out to mess with his guitar. Short Woman got out her camera and waved to Chris and made the motion that asks "Can I get a picture of you?". He just stood there and looked at her waiting to take his picture. I figured, "What the heck. Might as well." And got my camera out and made the motion to ask for a picture and he waved at me. I didn't wave at him but he waved at me....
Josie and I started laughing and I felt a little bad that he didn't wave to Short Woman even though she waved at him. But yea, that right there assured me it was going to be an interesting night. Haha!
Bobaflex finally came out and started playing. It was incredible. The band that had been my favorite band since about January((and still is my favorite band today))right there in front of our faces playing. And throughout the night Chris kept watching us and me and him even ended up singing parts of the song Slave to each other. Ahahah! Got one video of Bury Me With My Guns On...
Afterwards we started to head towards the back where the merch tables were and where the band guys would be. BUT we got stopped by a girl. A drunk girl. Combined with the noise in the building, our somewhat damaged hearing from the speakers and her slurred speach, we have no clue what she actually wanted. From what we could gather it was something like "Give me any drugs you have on you because they will search you if you want to get with any of the Bobaflex guys." Or something like that. I really have no clue. We were kinda just humoring her until she was done talking. But while we were lsitening to her Marty walked by us and thanked us for coming out. So missed a oportunity to talk to him because we were trying to figure out what the half naked drunk girl wanted us to give her. lol
We hung around for a little bit to get pictures and autographs. Josie got her shoe autographed by the Blue Sky Falling Guys. Newt, guitarist, signed her shoe and wrote, "You f***ing theif! You stole my shoe!" Or something like that on her shoe. XD Then throughout the night he told people and even brought guys up to us, pointing at Josie saying, "You see that girl? She's a f***ing theif! She stole my f***ing shoe!" It was friggen hilarious. And at the recent Sick Puppies concert, Blue Sky Falling played and when I was getting their autographs afterwards, this was brought up. And that led to a hilarious conversation that will be talked about in detail in a later blog. Bahaha!
So all the Bobaflex guys kinda scattered throughout the bar and outside except for Chris who was just standing near the merch tables not really talking to anyone. So we went to get our pictures taken with him and I think have him sign Josie's shoe.
After that there were some other people wanting a picture with him so we retured to our little corner area with stool to figure out who to get pictures and autographs from next. They were all just scattered and the ones we could find were all busy talking to large groups of people. So we were getting ready to leave and then Chris walks up to us. "I just wanted to thank you girls for being up front because whenever theres cute girls in the front row, the shows always go a lot smoother." We giggled and talked to him for a few minutes before heading out and calling it a night.
My 3rd rock concert. Since JT, the lead singer for Hawthorne Heights, went to St Mary's High School, he set up this concert there in their auditorium.
I went with Mumsy and Alydia to this one. We went a little earlier so we could stop at Wendys and go to the island for little bit. On the island, we tried to find a geocache. Mumsy and I were both walking therough the weeds and brush looking for places but we couldn't find it. Eventually we gave up and went to the high school, joking about us getting ticks all over us since I had just had several bad/funny experiences with ticks the week before in North Carolina and back at home.
The Hawthorne Heights guys and The Story Changes guys were running their own merch table. Micah was standing next to the entrance to the auditorium and Jt was the one who took our tickets, marked on our hands and gave us a free download card for their new album Skeletons that was coming out in a few days. We went in and sat down. Then we started to strategize on how we can get front row. We knew that as soon as bands start to play, people would rush to the front. So based on where the most people were and where open seats were, we went and sat about 5 rows back on the far left side. After sitting there for a few seconds and thinking more about it, we decided to just go and stand in front of the stage. Just a few moments after we did that, the first band started and crowds of people gathered around the stage. Perfect timing on our part.
During on of the many opening bands, I felt an itch on my head behind my left ear. I reach back and there I find a tick. I instinctively pulled the tick off and threw it down. It landed on the stage which was about elbow height. I saw it. Mumsy saw it. Alydia saw it. Alydia kinda went into freak out mode. ((Remember during all this there was a band playing)) She took off her shoe, and started beating the stage trying to kill the tick. Thought it was dead until she saw it was crawling again so she grabbed her shoe again and continued to beat the stage/tick. Mumsy and I were laughing hysterically. I started to calm down and then I look up on the side of the stage and there, working with the sound equipment, is Micah. He was just kinda staring confused. We must have looked crazy. After I saw him watching this all happen I lost it all over again and laughed hysterically again with Mumsy. My stomach hurt so bad from the laughing. After explaining to the confused and probably somewhat scared girls behind us that there was a tick, they laughed and we all continued to listen to the music.
Earlier I had saw a guy who, in my oppionion, looked like a older Bradley B. So, of course, I thought he was cute. Turns out he was the singer/guitar player in The Story Changes. I had listened to them some on their MySpace in preperation for this concert. The band has just two members. Mark on vocals and guitar and Poppy((The Half Naked Friend lol)) on drums. Got one video of them...
Then after them was Hawthorne Heights. Mark from TSC played with them on guitar. Had never really listened to them. I tried to listen to them on MySpace in preperation but I would just get bored and end up listening to Bobaflex or something instead. But they were really really good and it turns out I actually knew several of their songs already. Got two videos of them...
After the show we chilled out a bit and I went on a quest to get my picture taken with people. First up, Hawthorne Height's guitarist and screamer Micah. He gave me fair warning that he was sweaty and he was indeed very sweaty.
Next I got one taken with Mark from The Story Changes.
Then lead singer and guitarist from Hawthorne Heights JT. Mumsy and Alydia decided to get their shoes signed by him. Alydia took her shoe off and he signed it. Then it was Mumsy's turn. She started to take off her shoe and JT went, "No! No! No! You don't have to....." And her shoe was already off so he just stopped mid-sentence and hung his head and chuckled to himself while we laughed at Mumsy's awkwardness.
After that Hawthorne Heights drummer Eron.((We both have this weird serious type look on our faces lol))
After that we were standing around the entrace to the auditorium awkwardly thinking about what to do since we didn't want to leave quite yet and I still had to get a picture taken with a few people. Then Poppy((who now had more clothes on)) saw us and came over to say hi. I asked whether I could get a picture taken with him. Mumsy went to take the picture and just has she did he went, "Stop! Wait whats your names first?"
"I'm Mumsy." "What is it? Mumsy?" "Nickname right?" "Yea." "Alright, yea, cuz my names Poppy and people are always like, 'Thats your real name?' and I'm just like 'Nooo.......' Alright whats your name?" "Alydia." "What is it? *says something not even close to her name* Say it again?" "Alydia" "Oh! Gotchya! Alydia! You guys have some odd names. Whats your name?" "Sarah" "Ah finally, a normal name!" Random chit chat and I get one more picture taken with him before he went to go help pack up equipment.
On the way out we had to pass by the entrace to the stage and we thought of having Micah sign there shoes. Especiall Alydia's since he saw the whole crazy tick smashing thing earlier. lol But I didn't feel like going out there and being the leader for that. Neither did they. Mumsy didn't want to go out at all but she wanted her shoe signed. Mumsy took off her shoe and threw it at us to take it and get it signed. After much debate Alydia went out on the stage where Micah, Poppy and Matt. A few seconds after Alydia went out there I thought to myself, "This is going to be hilarious. I can't miss this!" And I followed her, leaving Mumsy alone in the hallway. Knowing Mumsy I knew she wouldn't want to stay out in the hall alone especially with only one shoe on so I knew she would follow me. I walk on the stage just in time to hear Alydia ask Micah, "Can you sign my friends shoe?" "You're friend's shoe?!?"~Poppy "Yea" "Well, where is she?"~Micah "She's hiding." "Well tell her to come out"~Micah *Mumsy hobbles in with a bright red face wearing one shoe* *Everyone cracks up laughing* So they got their shoes signed by him and we talked to him a for a bit before leaving. And then after we left I realized I forgot to get a picture with Matt. The only one I didn't get my picture taken with....
2nd rock concert. 1st rock concert at the Eagles and it was sold out.
Went to this one with Alydia and met Billie, Brian and Mumsy there. Heres Alydia and I cheesin it up with our tickets before heading into the Eagles.
First up was Jinxd.
My first time actually seeing them and knowing who they were instead of them just being a random band at a festival. I caught a guitar pick from Todd. =) There were these two girls right in front of Alydia and I about center stage. One had black hair and the other was blonde. They stuck out because Alydia and I laughed at something they did while Jinxd was doing a cover of Something In Your Mouth by Nickelback. Later on, I would get a message on MySpace from the dark haired girl, whos name is Grace, because she saw my pictures from the Tantric concert on there and we ended up adding each other as friends. When never knew each other and we were at several of the same concerts and were within a few feet of each other at each one. Now that have met and talked on MySpace, we haven't been to one concert that we were both at. lol Kinda funny. Also right beside Billie and Brian((who were right behind me)) was Tim! From the Tantric concert! At first he didn't recognize me but in the gap between Spider Rockets and Pop Evil, I said hi and talked to him a bit. =)
Next was the Spider Rockets. They were okay. BUT Billie and I couldn't get over 1 thing. And later I found out that Grace apparently had a problem with the same thing. The girl lead singers face. She did this thing with her face...
It just bothered us. Then Billie and I tried to make that face...
But anyways, their music was alright. They recorded a bit of it and put it on Youtube. You can see Brian clearly pumping his fist and getting into it. lol
Then Pop Evil came out. Their performance was just incredible.
The entire night I got tons of eye contact from Tony. lol Got a fist bump from him, got some funny pictures of him and he posed for a few of my pictures. I *almost* got a pick from Tony but when he went to put in it my hand a girl stuck her hand right ontop of mine and it went into her hand instead. I gave Tony a shocked sad look and he could only give me an apologetic sad look back since that was his last pick.
<3 Matt <3
"I'm barely breathing! I'm barely alive!"
Got one video that night.
Billie and Brian decided that they wanted all their picture taken in front of the stage. Mumsy didn't really understand the whole take a picture thing AFTER the band and their equipment was already off the stage...
You had to be 21 to get into the after party they had there so we didn't stick around too long afterwards and I didn't get a picture with anyone. =(
